Seit mehr als 50 Jahren hat sich die berühmte Silhouette des M16/M4 nur einmal grundlegend und einige Male geringfügig verändert. Lauflängen und Hinterschäfte haben sich geändert, doch die Entwicklung von Amerikas rechter Hand ist mehr oder weniger mit jeder Generation von Soldaten vorangeschritten, die sie zu ihrer eigenen gemacht hat. In dieser Zeit bedeutete der Anblick des M16/M4 in den sicheren Händen junger Amerikaner für unzählige Millionen Menschen auf der ganzen Welt Hoffnung.
Mit dem Aufkommen des USASOC URGI hat sich diese typisch amerikanische Silhouette für immer verändert. Der Geissele Super Modular Rail MK 16 Handschutz, der kaltgehämmerte Lauf und das Carbine-Gassystem arbeiten zusammen und sorgen für eine messbare Steigerung der Trefferwahrscheinlichkeit. Das USASOC URGI wurde für die volle Belastung durch die neue M855A1 (AB57)-Munition entwickelt und nutzt deren Leistungsfähigkeit voll aus. Wird das USASOC URGI in ein bestehendes System eingebaut, entsteht im Grunde eine völlig neue Waffe. Das USASOC URGI ist ein nahezu identischer Nachbau der Upper-Receiver-Gruppe, die derzeit bei USASOC im Einsatz ist.

The Geissele Super Modular Rail MK 16 handguard, hammer forged barrel, and carbine gas system work in concert for a package that delivers measurable increases in hit probability. Designed to take the full rigors of the new M855A1 (AB57) ammunition, the USASOC URGI also takes full advantage of its capabilities. Once the USASOC URGI is installed on an existing system, it essentially makes for a brand new weapon. The USASOC URGI is a near-clone of the upper receiver group currently in service with USASOC.
